Tie Guan Yin is a splendid oolong tea that is always in demand because of its unique elegance. Oolong teas are among the most difficult to make well and require as much art as science. To make a great oolong tea requires not only the best and youngest whole tea leaves available, but also an artist to turn those leaves into delicious oolong tea.
The origin of this oolong tea dates to the early 18th century. Legend has it that monkeys were trained by monks to pick the choicest leaves from wild tea trees growing in the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian Province. This monkey-picked tea was presented as tribute to Emperor Qian Long in 1741 and, for many years, was enjoyed exclusively by the Imperial Court. Presently the term “Monkey Picked” refers to the highest quality of Oolong tea available. Made from the youngest tea leaves, this tea is perfect for multiple infusions.
Oolong tea is recommended to be infused multiple times ( up to 6-7 times).A “must try” for the oolong lovers superb oolong tea, lightly oxidized.

I just came across this tea and decided to give it a try. So I bought some sample home and blended the tea with some extra lavender. This tea tastes best when kept pure and hence it has a smooth and pleasant taste. It is lightly brewed hence the color is similar as that of a white wine. Since this tea is light, you will notice that it works well with floral/fruity tea as well. The taste is awesome and definitely this will be the best oolong tea that you will ever have.

For years I tried to avoid any hot beverage with a high caffeine content, in spite of the fact that I have been an avid tea drinker. Recently a friend gifted me this tea, which I think is simply out of this world. This variety of Oolong tea had less caffeine than black tea as also a higher antioxidant value. The brew is of a light yellow color and combines a great fruity and floral flavor and aroma. The taste is more subtle and the best part of it is its aftertaste – is of a melony nature.

It’s a great oolong with wonderful health benefits. I make sure I follow my meals with a cup of this tea. It reduces fat absorption from the meal and its tannins also keep my cholesterol level in check. I prefer it to strong black teas as it is just mildly caffeinated, yet more relaxing than black teas.

This wonderful beverage with a rich history has an equally great taste. I absolutely savour its mild fruity taste. The tea retained its light flavor even when I steeped it repeatedly and it never really became too bold. I would strongly recommend brewing it in a yixing teapot which retains its flavor during each steeping and yields fantastic taste after repeated use.

I like its delicious fruity taste and fresh floral aroma. I steeped it for about three minutes and it yielded a smooth flavour. I also noticed my cholesterol levels drop and metabolism pick up after having this tea for about two weeks. I did find it a bit expensive but given the fact that it can be infused several times, and has great health benefits, I think it is well worth its price.

I was wondering if the story about monkeys collecting the tea leaves is true. It definitely makes the tea very exotic. But what is really amazing is the taste. When you brew it correctly it tastes like flowers. When I first started to purchasing this tea from different vendors it took me some time to lean the brewing process. Now I know exactly what it need to give me this beautiful pleasant aroma and taste. I found tea from Prima Tea to have the best combination of price and quality for Monkey Picked Oolong tea. I recommended this tea from this tea shop to all my friends. Too bad, they closed local store, but life is life. Good luck guys, I am your loyal customer, as long the the tea quality stays the same as now.
