Da Hong Pao Tea (Big Red Robe Tea) is the king of the Famous and rare Five Rock Teas , which is growing on the Jiu Long Ke cliff of Wuyi Mount of China . Da Hong Pao Tea is one of the most famous Chinese teas. Belonging to the Oolong category of tea, the tea has a long history and some wonderful legends surrounding it.
According to legend, the tea was named after a gift given to the trees from an emperor. During the Ming Dynasty. The emperor’s mother was very ill and was cured after? she drank the tea. In gratitude the emperor sent a large amount of rare red cloth to cover the trees during winter to insure that they did not die from the cold. The English then started to call the tree Big Red Robe Tea because of the red cloth.
This tea offers rich aromas of roasted vegetables and honey. It is Full bodied tea with a sweet aftertaste that is felt in your throat and tongue. After a few small Gong Fu cups, the pleasant floral fragrance remains in your mouth, remaining for a good few minutes. Not many tea has the ability to do this.
