Organic Pinhead Gunpowder Green Loose Leaf Tea – Bulk 2LB

$89.50

Even, rolled, pellet shaped leaf with smooth, nutty flavor. Organic Pinhead Gunpowder Green Loose Leaf Tea.

It brews to a deep amber color and has a light, slightly sweet flavor, with an aroma that is both fresh and bright.

Superior quality gunpowder tea with a full-bodied cup and smooth taste. .Gunpowder tea originated in
the Zhejiang province of China and its production dates back to the Tang dynasty. It gets its name from its leaves which are rolled into tiny round balls resembling gunpowder. Its leaves are withered, steamed, rolled and then dried. The rolling protects the leaves from physical damage and retains its natural flavor and aroma for long period of
time. The leaves are then selected for their quality, size and style; small, tightly rolled leaf pellets, about the size of a pinhead, mark high quality.

These potent leaves expand fully during infusion and sink down in slow graceful pattern, releasing a captivating nutty green taste.
You can blend it spearmint to create the famous ‘Moroccan Mint’ tea.

Primatea’s pinhead gunpowder has been a staple tea in our home for more than a year now. We just prefer it to be iced but it tastes good when hot too. The tea is quite affordable than most other green teas and it just provides you the quality that you expect. A steep at 180 degrees for about 3 minutes will give you a tea of superb quality. I never forget to buy this tea for myself and make sure that I never run out of it.

I love to freshen up with its crisp green tea flavor. I only needed a small quantity to get a full strong cup as it expands considerably when infused. It has a natural bitterness which tastes nice if you can develop a taste for it; however, I prefer it with a little sugar which enhances its flavor.

I had read the reviews before ordering this tea. I completely agree with the other customers when they say that the tea wasn’t much by means of the aroma, but gradually grows on you. It is a wonderfully strong tea that you would like. I prefer to drink it hot because of its smoky flavor. If you like strong tea, you will surely fall in love with this variety. A great tea to keep you wake after those unavoidable afternoon meetings!

The compact pebbly look and the strong flavor is the reason why I am attracted towards this tea. This tea is a mixture of whole and partial leaves packed tiny. The aroma is not very strong, I had t almost touch the tea’s surface to smell the aroma. I prefer sipping this tea rather than gulping it down straightaway. There’s something about this tea which seems to be rather nourishing, however this point will be noticeable only by fitness freaks. This tea is perfect for early morning time, I usually have it around 3pm when I at my workplace. It also makes a good option for afternoon tea.

I love to freshen up with its crisp green tea flavor. I enjoy indulging myself in its distinct smokiness. It has a more subtle and smooth flavor than usual green teas. I would recommend looking out for the pellet size and shine on the tea pellets, as I learnt that small and shiny pellets indicate high quality and fresh tea.

  6. Linda Leake

I have fallen in love with the gunpowder teas mainly for two reasons, its strong flavor and pebbly look. Packed in a mixture of partial and whole leaves, this tea smells almost brothy. It was like tasting a great noodle soup and while I was having the sips, I found myself craving for some thick udon noodles and some bits of tofu and seaweeds to accompany it. The tea doesn’t let out too much aroma but it compensates for the same with its awesome taste. This tea is ideal for those who wish to be active while at work or during the afternoon time.

  7. Judy Brooks

It gives a dark green colour and a distinct smoky taste. It leaves a slight coppery after taste. I tried the iced flavour made with ice, lemon and sugar and it tasted nice. Its Moroccan flavour, got by boiling the tea leaves and then adding mint and sugar brings out yet another delicate nuance of its classic old taste. It makes for a strong cup of tea.
